Victor Guy Hayward of Ardbeg, was born Nov. 21, 1894 son of Alfred and Eliza Jane (Lee) Hayward.

His medical was October 24, 1917. His actual enlistment was given as February 4, 1918 at Hamilton to the 1st Battalion of the 2nd C.O.R.
By March 4, 1918 Guy had arrived in England aboard the S/S Melita where he was taken on strength to the 8th Reserve. On April 2 he was transferred to the C.M.G.D. (Canadian Machine Gun Depot).
On October 10, 1918 he was transferred from the C.M.G.D. to the C.M.G. Pool and on October 11 he arrived in France.
He was subsequently transferred to the 4th Battalion C.M.G.C.
Following the war, he stayed in France, returning to England on May 1, 1919.
He returned to Canada June 6, 1919. He was discharged June 16, 1919.
As noted, in the previous section both Guy Hayward and Bill Harrison were members of a tank crew according to anecdotal history.
Victor Guy Hayward must have done some travel after WW1 since he is shown as arriving in New York via Ellis Island on January 29, 1924. (His place of origin was shown as Ardbeg).

Victory Guy Hayward married Dolly McKelvey. Violet M. 'Dolly' McKelvery's parents were Robert Daniel 'Dan' and Esther A. (Reid) McKelvey. Dan was born 1877 and Esther in 1878.
Guy and Dolly's children included Jean Hayward, born June 16, 1931; Kenneth born July 19, 1934; and Donelda, born November 26, 1939 attended Ardbeg school between 1946 and 1954.
