JACKSON, CPL J.E. Reg. #3233773

In the Women’s Institute book ‘Looking Back’ a picture of a soldier named Cpl. J. E. Jenkins was provided. However, in neither the list of those who were killed or others who served is a J. E. Jenkins listed.

When the Magnetawan Legion did further research in the 1990’s they too included the picture of J.E. Jenkins – but did not list him amongst those who served or were killed. 

 

John Ethelbert Jackson was born July 12, 1887 in Magnetawan, the son of John Jackson and Maria Louisa Wallis.

John married Laura Lucy Mumford on November 22, 1922 in Magnetawan.

In 1949. John (under the name Ethelbert) and Laura lived in Magnetawan. Ethelbert identified his occupation as a farmer.

John Ethelbert Jackson died March 4, 1964 in Chapman Twp.

John is identified as enlisting at Toronto on April 23, 1918. He listed his next of in as his Uncle Robert Elliott of Magnetwan.

 

In his Discharge Certifiate, John Ethelbert Jackson is identified as having enlisted in the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd C.O.R. on April 23, 1918.

He is identified as having served in Canada.

He was discharged October 27, 1919
