Ernest George Langford

Ernest George Langford was born April 6, 1889 in Spence Twp., the son of Thomas Langford and Susan Blakely.

At the time of the 1891 and 1901 censuses the family was identified as living in Spence Twp.

By the time of the 1911 census, Ernest was identified as living Assiniboia, Saskatchewan,

Ernest enlisted on August 1, 1917 in Toronto. In his Attestation papers he identified that present address was Magnetawan, that his next of kin was his mother Susan and that he was a farmer.

Ernest married Nellie Edith Vickers in Burks Falls on June 16, 1920. In the marriage registration, Ernest identified that he was a lumberman.

Ernest and Nellie had a son Lloyd Ernest ‘Bud’ Langford born April 8, 1923 in Sequin Falls.

Ernest died February 5, 1973 in Parry Sound.

In his Discharge Certificate, Ernest is identified as having enlisted in the C.F.C. Canadian Forestry Corps - units designated to cut down and process trees to provide wood and lumber) on August 1, 1917 and to have served in the 80th Co. C.F.C.

Ernest arrived in England on September 15, 1917n the S.S. Megantic.

In October he was deployed to France to the 80 Coy. In October of 1918 he was appointed A/ Sgt. In December he was confirmed as Sergeant.
