LORUSSO, PTE. FRANK
Franceso ‘Frank’ Lorusso was born February 8, 1913 in Georgetown Ontario the son of Emanuel Mike’ Larusso and Maria Masi.
On August 4, 1945, he married Jantje Bregitta Hoogland in Barneveldt, Gelderland Netherlands.
Frank had an adoptive son Hendrikus Hoogland born in 1942 and a daugher Reina Maria Lorusso born in 1947 in Wingham, Ontario. Reina married Aubrey Louis Charles Tilson on June 6, 1966 in Magnetawan. Reina died in 2008 in Magnetawan. There were three or four other children born to Frank and Maria.
Frank and Maria lived in Magnetawan in the period 1995 through 2003 based upon telepone records,
Frank Lorusso
Francesco (Frank) Lorusso enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers in Toronto in Jul 1942. He served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe and was discharged in Apr 1946.
Frank was wounded by shrapnel from a mortar explosion while serving with the 3rd Field Engineers at Morro Crossing, Italy. He was hospitalized for 3 months in various field hospitals until released back to active duty in Mar 1944. While in Italy he was able to visit his parent’s relatives and saw the Pope.
While serving in the Netherlands Frank married Jantje (Jean) Hoogland, and she joined him in Canada in Dec 1946.
Frank and Jean raised their children on their farm on Old Nipissing Rd, Magnetawan.
