Sammie Douglas McEwen was born May 16, 1919 in Hagerman Twp., son of Joseph and Ann (Davis) McEwen.

Above, the movements of the 12^th Field Regiment, 3^rd Canadian Division from the time of landing until war’s end. Their journey took them from the beaches of Normandy, through France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The 12^th Field Regiment was the first Artillery Regiment to land on Juno Beach.

They continued to be an integral part of the actions of the Canadian 3^rd Div. until war’s end.
