MCKEE, PTE. GEORGE WILLIAM
There was also George McKee who lived in Patterson Twp. with his parents Thomas Henry McKee and and Margret Ellen (Tennant) and siblings. George was identified as being born December 29, 1897. The family remained in Patterson Twp. In 1911, but the name was spelled McKey in the census
He also had a brother John Albert McKee who served. At this point there seems to be no connection to Magnetawan.
In his Discharge Certificate, William is identified as having enlisted in North Bay in the 1st. COR on November 19, 1917 and as having served in France and Belgium.
He was discharged April 1, 1919,
While he was discharged as part of the general demobilization, it is noted that he was wounded.
William arrived in England on February 6, 1918 on the CANADA
He joined the 20th Battalion in France in August.
On August 31, he was wounded.
At wars end, William George McKee married Laura May Ratz.
In his wedding record and in censuses, William George went by George.
