McMILLAN, CPL. R. Reg. 473328
There was a Robert William McMullen (McMillen) born in 1880 and living in Chapman Twp. With his parents at the time of the 1891 census. His parents were James and Mary J, (Cahill) McMillan – but he did not appear to be with the family at the time of the 1901 census.
In his Attestation paper signed in Saskatchewan on November 12, 1915 Robert verified that he was the son of James McMillan of Sunridge. He identified his calling as that of a lumberman.
In his Attestation papers, Robert identified that he was born February 22, 1880.
Robert died May 25, 1956.
In his Discharge Certificate Robert is identified as having enlisted in the 65th Battalion in Prince Albert, Sask. On November 11, 18.
He was identified as being discharged on March 29, 1919 as medically unfit.
His address on discharge was given as 22 Churchill Avenue, Toronto.
Robert arrived in England on April 9, 1916 on the S.S. Empress of Britain.
He embarked for France on June 8, 1916 where he was part of the 52nd Battalion.
He was wounded on September 20, 1916 and was hospitalized.

In March of 1917 Robert was transferred from the C.C.A.C. (Canadian Casualty Assembly Centre - centre where wounded were assessed for either further treatment or return to duty) to the Manitoba Regiment.
Periods of hospitalization appear to have followed.
On June 14, 1918, as part of the 18th Reserve he was granted leave to marry.
The note below identified several of the causes of illness.
This does not include a severe rupture that occurred during bayonet training.
