James Clifford Ohara (O’Hara) was born August 6, 1896 in Smith’s Falls, Ontario, the son of Charles and Sarah Ann (Reid) O’Hara.

The family lived in Elmsley, Lanark in 1901.

After the death of his father, James and his mother moved to Inholmes, Ontario where James and his mother were identified as living at the time of his enlistment February 4, 1918 at Hamilton.

At the time of enlistment, James was identified as a farmer.

In 1921, James and his mother continued to live in Spence and Croft Twps.

James married Annie Margaret (Higgins) Reid.

James was hospitalized on October 27, 1918 as a result of being wounded by a gas shell.

James was discharged June 16, 1919 having served in England and France with the 4th C.M.G.C.

James landed in England on March 3, 1918

He was identified as being in the field with the CMGC Pool in in August. In September he was posted to the CMGC, 4th Battalion.

He was wounded on October 29, 1918 (gas shell).

In May of 1919 he proceeded to England and in June returned to Canada.
