RAUSCH, PTE. HUGO A.  Reg. # 3035661 (1st C.O. Regiment)

Hugo August Rausch was born December 15, 1894 at Commanda the son of Ferdinand Karl Rausch and Maria Augusta Arndt.

At the time of the 1891 census the family lived in Pringle Township.

Hugo was drafted April 29, 1918 at Toronto. In his papers he identified that he was a labourer living in Magnetawan

On February 18, 1920 Hugo married Myrtle Ross in Magnetawan where Hugo identified he was working at the time as a bartender.

At the time of the 1921 census, Hugo and Myrtle were identified as living in Magnetawan where Hugo’s occupation was listed as a labourer.

Hugo and Myrtle had four children.

In 1935 and 1945 the family was identified as living in South River with Hugo identified as a carpenter.

Hugo died in 1964 in Magnetawan and is buried in Spence.

Hugo arrived in England on August 15, 1918.

He was Taken on Strength with e Canadian Machine Gunin September.

He returned to Canada in January 1919.

In his Discharge Certificate, Hugo is identified as having served with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st C.O.R. in England.
