ROSS, PTE. DONALD Reg, #862739

Donald Fraser Ross was born September 26, 1896 in Gravenhurst, the son of Angus Ross and Williamina ‘Lena’ Fraser.

At the time of the 1891 census, the family lived in Gravenhurst.

At the time of the 1901 census, the family was identified as living on Lot 1, Concession 5, Croft Township.

In his Attestation papers, signed February 28, 1916 in Toronto, Donald identified that he was presently living in North Bay where he was working as a timber scaler.

Donald arrived in England on November 16, 1916.

In January 1917 he was transferred from the 180th Battalion to the 3rd Reserve Battalion and in February to the 123rd Battalion.

On February 2, 1917 he embarked for France with the 123rd.

On October 21, 1917 he was killed in action.
