ROSSKOPF, CORP. ALFRED REG # 657728

Alfred Emanuel Rosskopf was born in Magnetawan on June 15, 1899, the son of Gottleib Rosskpf and Elizabeth Elsie Raaflaub.

At the time of the 1911 census, the family was identified as living on Lot 28, Concession 4 (?) of Ryerson Twp.

Alfred signed his Attestation papers on March 2, 1916. In those papers he identified that he currently lived in Magnetawan and that he was a farmer.

At the time of the 1921 census, Alfred and his wife Christina Mae Elizabeth (Williamson) Rosskopf lived in Preston, Ontario.

In 1928 Alfred and Christina moved to Buffalo.

At the time of the 1930 census, the family including daughters Ida age 8 and Marie age 1 were identified as living in Buffalo. Alfred’s occupation was listed as a conductor.

Alfred died February 4, 1966 in Buffalo.

In his Discharge Certificate A/Corporal Alfred Emmanuel Rosskopf was identified as having joined the 162nd in Burks Falls on March 20, 1916 and to have served in Canada and England.

He was discharged January 9, 1919.

Alfred arrived in England on November 11, 1916 on the S.S. Caronia as part of the 162nd Battalion.

He was transferred to the 35th reserve Battalion in December 1916 and subsequently to the 4th Reserve Battalion.

In January 1917 he transferred to the 161st Battalion.

In March 1918 he was awarded the Good Conduct Badge.

In April, 1918 he was promoted to A/Corporal.
