James and his sister Doris were the children of Wallace and Margaret Mabel (Lucas) Taylor.

The children’s father Wallace was born in the United States. Their mother was born in Ontario. The parents married in York on September 21, 1910.

They moved to Ryerson by the time of the 1921 census
