Thomas Edward Tilson was born January 30, 1896 in Magnetawan, the son of Thomas Tilson and Augustus Courvoisier.

At the time of the 1911 census the family was identified as living on Lot 15, Concession 11 in Croft Township. Thomas was identified as a labourer on a farm.
At the time of enlistment on January 4, 1916 in Rainy River, Thomas indicated that he lived in Pinewood, Ontario (near Rainy River).
Thomas arrived in England on May 7, 1917 on the S.S. Olympic.
In June he transferred from the 18th Battalion to the 8th Battalion Overseas.
He was killed in action September 24, 1918 while in the 8th Battalion.
