TODD, PTE JAMES - Regimental # 3038371

At the time of enlistment, James identified that he was born in Berwickshire, Scotland; that his next of kin was William Todd of Maple Island and that he lived in Dunchurch.  

James medical examination occurred in Parry Sound. His actual date of recruitment was at Toronto on November 11, 1917 when he enlisted in the 1st Depot Battalion C.O.R.

James arrived in England on the SS Cassandra on June 21, 1918 with the 12th Reserve.  On October 20th he was transferred to the 45th Battalion in France.

James Todd in later years

October 20/21 he transferred to the 75th Battalion. He initially was identified as being with the C.C.R.C. (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp – the centre in France where troops were held before being sent to reinforce existing units) and on November 2, joined his unit.

James remained on the continent until May 7, 1919 when he returned to England. He returned to Canada May 31, 1919

He was discharged June 8, 1919

At the time of the 1921 census, James, age 35, was identified as living in Dunchurch. In the census, he was identified as being age 35 and that he had come to Canada in 1913. At the time of the census, living with James was his wife Agnes (Tait Thompson) age 30, born in Scotland, immigrated in 1919; and daughter Agnes, age 4 months (born in Ontario).
