Charles Arnold Wilder was born February 9, 1893, the son of John Adam Wilder and Sarah Minnie McDougal.

At the time of the 1901 census, the family lived in Christie Township.

At the time of the signing of his Attestation papers, on June 10, 1915 at Niagara, Charles identified his net of kin as his mother living in Elk Lake.

He identified himself as a watchmaker.

In his Discharge Certificate, Charles is identified as having enlisted in the 37th Battalion at Niagara Falls on June 8, 1915. He is further identified as having served with the 26th Battalion in England and France.

He was discharged May 17, 1919.

Charles arrived in England on December 11, 1915 on the S.S. Lapland.

He transferred to the 10th and 12th Battalions, but in June of 1916 was assigned to the 26th Battalion.

In September of 1917 he was appointed Lance Corporal.

On August 7, 1918 he was wounded while serving with the 26th.

The note below indicates that the wound was in the thigh. The only other actual reference to the wound was that Charles made a good recovery.

Charles Arnold Wilder, jeweller, married Lillian Ruth Allan in North Bay on December 27, 1922 in North Bay.
