Norman William Wurm was born May 17, 1888, the son of Julius C. Wurm and Charity A. Morris.
At the time of the 1891 census, the family lived in Chapman Township. In 1911, the family was specifically identified as living on Lot 26, Concession 3 Chapman. Norman’s occupation was listed as lumberman.
Norman moved to the United States on July 17, 1921.
In his Attestation Papers, he identified his contact person as his father Julius of Port Carmen.
Norman married Nellie Elizabeth Pratt (nee Cushing) May 29, 1923 in Detroit. Norman’s occupation at the time of marriage was Foreman.
Norman died October 1967 in Warren, Macomb, Michigan.
During the War, Norman was identified as a translator according to Legion records and served on the European Front.
Norman enlisted January 8, 1918 in Oshawa where he joined the 2nd Battalion, 2nd C.O.R.
In his Discharge Certificate, Norman is identified as joing the 2nd Depot Battalion on January 8, 1918 and as having served in the 58th Battalion and 19th Battalions in France.
Norman arrived in England on March 4, 1918 on the S.S. Megantic.
As noted in his Disharge Certificate, he served in the 8th Reserve Battalion, the 58th Battalion and the 19th Battalion.
He returned to England from France in April 1919.
As noted below, Norman landed in France and was taken on strength with the 58th in August of 1918.
He was transferred the C.C.R.C. (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp - centre in France where troops were held before being sent to reinforce existing units) and in September joined the 19th Battalion.
