This inventory records hundreds of interactions with his customers, many of whom descend from 'Zebra' passengers. This page is a continuation of 'Fritz' FAEHRMANN (1872-1906) which explores the life of South Australian born Nickolaus Friederich Carl Fährmann and his wife of Welsh origins, Mary Jane Jones.
Shown below are his 1901-1905 blacksmith records, which were lent to me in 2020, with permission to make them public on this LocalWiki site, by their granddaughter, Beryl Benham, Hahndorf resident, South Australia.

2. Summary of blacksmith records 1 October 1901-23 May 1905
Nickolaus was a blacksmith and his granddaughter Beryl BENHAM has kept his daily blacksmith records, now 120 years old, dated from Tuesday 1 October 1901, until page 239, Saturday 3 June 1905.
In his inventory he records hundreds of interactions with his customers, some examples I have entered below:
- Storch Brothers who purchased 1 lb dynamite and 9 detonators on Thursday May 4, 1905.
- His brother Friedrich Wilhelm Faehrmann who visited the work shop several times every week and bought many 'shoes', but others had their 'shoes' removed
- Pfennig who purchased 'slippers'
- Mrs Reimann on 22 March 1905 who purchased a millsaw file
- Friedrich Wilhelm Wittwer had two Mill roller scrapers in September 1904, and had work down to his boiler,
- Mueller had his plough fixed, in August 1904 for one shilling,
- J Pain had his Mason hammer sharpened for tuppence, in February 2004
- J.O. Thiele bought black paint
- J.C. Gallasch had his plough painted
- F.J. Kuchel bought a tin of axle grease
- W Liebelt and others had their scythes repaired
- C Jaensch who bought cartridges in the same month, and other who picked up bolts, shovel and axe handles
- October 1901 Alf Paech and Alf Kuchel both bought 'boys axes', had their grubbers regularly sharpened, bought trap tyres, nails by the pound, trolly springs, shackles, hacksaw & blades, wedges, shears repaired, and sharpened, German Wagon axel welded
- J.C. Gallasch has his adze repaired for one shilling and thrupence
- F.A. Paech had repairs to his chaff cutter rod
- Strempel had a rake repaired
- Mrs Faehrmann picked up two cases of kerosene for 14 shillings on 9 April 1902
- Ruge, Mueller and Faehrmann bought oil by the bottle or the gallon in March 1902,
- B Constable bought a bottle of Eucalyptus oil
- C Fichtner two bags of coal
- Reinmann bought a Bulls Ring on 1 March 1902
- Mrs Pade on page 16 bought a Douglas's Pump, No 4 for just over sixteen shillings
- Mrs Reinmann bought an onion hoe, and in November 1903 they needed a 'Bull leader'
- Alf Kuchel, G Ruge, and Ferdinand Mueller wanted potato hoes
- Dainty & Co bought picks and drills
- Gottlieb Kuchel had a yoke welded, 10 shillings in June 1902
- Mrs Jaensch needed 3 bolts and screws in a pram, in July 1902
- Manglesdorf & Co had work down on their Butchers trap
- August 1902 Friedrich Wilhelm Wittwer had hinges made for his gate
- Pade & Sandow had their bedstead repaired, there were several Kelly Axe's 4 1/4, a handsaw, a ? Napping Hammers were popular, and a Napping Light (March 1903)
- J.O. Thiele wanted two new tyres but he provided his own iron
- FW Faehrmann bought a bag of potatoes for four shillings
- Fichtner bought charcoal
- O Faehrmann bought a gallon of turpentine
- Trolley or dray skids were repaired frequently, and what is a Mangold Cutter?

Many of these names are repeat customers, especially Fritz's brother Friedrich Wilhelm FAEHRMANN, also his neighbour, Johann Friedrich Wilhelm August WITTWER, his first cousin Gustav Christoph LIEBELT, and many others who were descendants from the 'Zebra' passengers.
