From Byways to Highways, Hahndorf's Changing Streetscape by Reg BUTLER, page 33.
'One of Victoria Street's foundation settlers in 1839, Eleonora PAECH, nee SCHULZ, sold land there and elsewhere which she had inherited from her mother, Dorothea SCHULZ, nee PAECH, who died in 1866.
Mrs PAECH placed the estate under the provisions of the Real Property Act and made over the title to Carl WIRTH, a Hahndorf mason. Land agent Adolph BARTELS, who drew up the transaction, later became father in law to artist Sir Hans HEYSEN.
Author's Note: Eleonora made her mark with a X. Underneath her husband Gottlob PAECH says 'I consent thereto'.
By the time Eleonore's mother [Dorothea Elizabeth PAECH 1796-1866] died Eleonore had birthed all of her 4 daughters, the youngest had died as an infant in 1859. The girls were Johanne Caroline Louise [1848-1924] who married in 1869, Johanne Eleonora [1851-1939] married 10 years later, lived & raised her children in her parents family home & Martha [1854-1939] who married in 1874.
