Elon University's Equestrian Team

Elon University's Equestrian Club is one of 24 club sports on campus.  The team currently has twenty-five members and around twenty of them compete.  However, the riding team is not limited to skilled riders. Anyone can join whether it be for fun or for competition. The fee to join each year is $650 dollars per semester which includes lessons.  The Elon University Equestrian Club Team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association where the team participates in hunter/jumper events.  The club team is a part of zone five, region four which just refers to the different areas that the schools are divided into so that regional competitions can be held.  There are a total of eight shows that the team competes in during the school season and they compete against teams like UNC Greensboro, Salem College, Appalachian State, High Point University, and Western Carolina University. The Elon Equestrian Team shares a barn with The UNC Greensboro team.  The team has grown in the past few years and the current team president is Courtney Canizares.  The Equestrian Team is dedicated to giving college students opportunities to further their horsemanship and riding skills. Recently, the Equestrian team participated in the Sedgefield Showgrounds and won fourth place overall.
