Elon University began Elon Outdoors in order to promote an active lifestyle along with the appreciation for the nature surrounding the University community.  Elon provides their students with the opportunity to take full advantage of North Carolina's diverse terrain with various trips planned each semester. A favorite spot in the Alamance county is Cedar Rock Park.  The park provides easy access to Elon's favorite hiking trails, bike trails, camp sites and fishing. Within this student run program, students are given the opportunity to apply leadership skills they have learned in the classroom and apply them in a professional aspect as they guide their peers on fun outdoor explorations.  Elon Outdoors encourages the students to branch out of their comfort zone and explore unfamiliar terrain. Past trips Campus Recreation Outdoors has offered include: canoeing, climbing, kayaking, backpacking, indoor climbing, white water rafting and sailing.  One of their most popular outdoors trips includes a day hike to a nearby mountain followed by a relaxing yoga session at the submit.
