Sherry McAdams

Sherry McAdams is a local artist in Elon, North Carolina.  Some of her art is featured in Lakeside Dining Hall on Elon University's campus along with other artwork from Elon's international collection.  McAdams is modernist painter, which refers to her use abstract tendencies and moving away from the narrative of common art.  While Sherry is a well-known artist, she is also known around the United States for being the 2013 Winner of the Wine Label contest. Her painting traveled around United States in a silent auction.  The charity that benefits from the proceeds is the Share our Strength Charity.  Sherry McAdams is known for her unique art style.  Her brushwork is powerful and her use of neutral colors with no light help bring out the colors with intense light in them.  Also, the abstract characteristics in her work is seen in use of many shapes and lines that are not always clearly defined.  

McAdams attended East Carolina University and then received a Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which is only a short distance from the town of Elon.  In addition to being a powerful painter, Sherry is also a graphic designer.  She has been working eighteen years for Carolina Biological Supply Company and scientific images are often influences for her paintings.  In 2013 McAdams was featured in the Fine Art Carolina Gallery in Mebane, North Carolina and had two paintings in the AdamsLeigh Snowhouse in Greensboro, North Carolina.
