General About the Organization/Mission/History
From the Bountiful Cities website, "Bountiful Cities is an urban agriculture non-profit founded in 2000. We partner with community groups, focusing on dialogue, trust and community needs, to create urban agricultural spaces. Our partnerships emphasize social justice, access to education, sustainability and economic viability. We share agricultural skills and resources to promote social justice and economic viability." Bountiful Cities was founded in 2000 in an attempt to achieve a triple bottom line approach to sustainability through urban food systems. Bountiful Cities is focused on food systems, food security, food production and job creation with a particular emphasis on social justice. The work of Bountiful Cities revolves around the exchange of agricultural skills in order to foster urban agriculture as well advocacy for just, healthy food systems. Bountiful Cities currently operates the Pearson Garden (considered the organization's "flagship" garden), the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park, and the Joyner Garden.
