Biography


According the The Historical Gazetter of Cattaraugus County, 1893, Isaac came to the Attica region in 1796 which predates the arrival of Zerah Phelps. His family can be traced to some of the original Massachusetts settlers and moved to the area to start a farm, but was also a tanner, merchant, and brick maker.

1817 Isaac moved into the village and built the first brick house on the lot that is now listed as 123 Market Street which he operated a tavern out of. This building still stand on the corner of Buffalo Street and Market Street

Isaac passed away in 1842.
