Just south of town along River Road one finds these curious ruins:

Today I stumbled through a lecture being given by Malcolm Shuman (promoting his latest book) on some particular criminal epsiode in local history, involving a murder and a past dean of LSU. That enough was enough to capture my interest. I lingered by, and when he pressed the button on his slide projector, this familiar image came into view. Apparently it was once a mansion, and it burned under suspicious circumstances, on the eve of a grand jury arraignment. But I didn't catch the details. — TobinFricke
