If you are visiting Bloomington-Normal or just live here, you will realize that there are many ways of getting around. There are many side streets that ride long side of cornfields and open spaces that are difficult to navigate, especially when it starts to get dark. During this time, there can be dangers when traveling due to the lack of lighting or the overall crowd.

The following areas could be unsafe during night, and would be ill-advised to travel on:

E. Washington Street, Market Street, Orlando Avenue, South Gate Estates, The Point Apartment Complex, and surrounding fields* *handful of rapes and murders reported here Samantha Street Tracy, Riley, and Todd Apartment Complexes

If traveling near these areas, remember some sort of buddy system. Walking alone is not advised after dark, and females should take extra caution and try to avoid these areas is possible. If riding a bicycle, make sure it is equipped with the necessary reflectors, you have a helment, and a cell phone.
