Heartland Community College Arts Program
Heartland Community College is a public community college established in 1990 in Normal, Illinois. It has campuses in Normal, Lincoln, and Pontiac.
Education
Heartland has several professors who also work as professional exhibiting artists and have connections to the art community in Bloomington-Normal. Although Heartland does not offer its own Fine Arts program, its adjacency to other accredited colleges and universities like Illinois Wesleyan, Illinois State University, and within a few hours travel to the Chicago Art Institue allows for students on a tighter budget to pursue their education with the option to transfer.
It also offers digital media competency courses like media design and web design as well as digital media communications, which may benefit artists interested in working in a traditional office setting.
Liberal Arts Degree
Heartland Community College offers its Liberal Arts degree in place of a Fine Arts degree or a certification. It is a 60 credit hour degree, and transferable to other colleges and universities (Confirm that the credits are transferable to a particular college with an advisor.)
