Potbelly is a chain of sandwich restaurants that offers delicious, toasted, submarine sandwiches made right in the store from fresh ingredients. You can enjoy your meal in Potbelly's eclectic environment, and hear music done live by artists in Potbelly on certain weekdays at lunch hours.
Originating in Chicago Illinois in 1977, Potbelly has grown to offer its sandwiches around the country in several different states, now with locations in Bloomington-Normal; one shop at 101 N. Veterans Pkwy, Bloomington, and a second location at 609 S. Main St, Normal, near ISU Campus.
You order your meal at the start of an assembly line, and as you move down the line, your food is made fresh in front of you. You can choose from a selection of different sandwiches, salads, and soups, as well as baked goods, smoothies, shakes, and malts. They also offer some vegetarian and vegan soup and sandwich options. As the food is made, you get to decide what additional toppings you would like to add to, or remove from your sandwich or salad from a selection of choices. They have a guarantee to have you through the line in eight minutes or less. Potbelly also caters and delivers if you are holding an event, or are unable to come out to the store.
You can choose from over ten unique toasted submarine sandwiches on either regular or multi-grain bread, and add on additional toppings including mayonnaise, brown deli mustard, hot peppers, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, oil, and Italian seasoning. In 2009, Potbelly introduced skinny and BIGS sandwich size variations, with 30% less or more sandwich than the original. In 2015, FLATS, flat-bread was added as an alternative bread option for sandwiches. The prices of sandwiches range from four to $6. The Potbelly stores in Bloomington and Normal also provide the calorie counts for all sandwiches on their menu.
In addition, you can order from several different salads and soups. The salads are a blend of spinach, romaine, and iceberg lettuce with all-natural grilled chicken. Each salad comes with preset ingredients which you can choose to narrow down to your preference. To go with your salad, you can choose from four salad dressings: balsamic vinaigrette, buttermilk ranch, Potbelly vinaigrette, and non-fat vinaigrette. Potbelly offers a rotating menu of delicious soups each day, as well as chili every day of the week. Salads range in prices around $6, and soups/chili range from $3-4 depending on your soup size choice.
Potbelly also offers an array of different smoothies, shakes, and malt flavors, and other baked good such as dream bars, and freshly made in-store cookies. Their prices range from $3 for smoothies/shakes/malts, and $1-2 for a cookie or small baked goods. Fountain drinks are available at a slightly steeper $2 for a decent sized regular drink cup (Or $2.20 for a significant size step up.) with eight different drink options available: Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and Lemonade.
