The Buffalo Sabres are a hockey team franchise in the NHL (National Hockey League) which is owned by Terry Pegula, who purchasrd the team in 2011. Pegula also owns the Buffalo Bills.

The Sabres were founded in 1970. They have had various superstars in their history such as Gilbert Perrault, Pat Lafontaine, Dominik Hasek, Danny Briere and Jack Eichel. 

The Sabres have never won a Stanley Cup but does have various division championships and one Presidents Trophy. Buffalo also has the second longest playoff drought (7 seasons) just ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes (9 seasons). 

At the 2018 NHL Draft, Buffalo selected Rasmus Dahlin first overall, a generational defensive prospect from Sweden.

The Sabres are the parent team to the Rochester Americans. The Sabres have also partnered with Buffalo NWHL team, the Buffalo Beauts who play their home games at Harborcenter.
