Friends of the Refuge is a club at Butte College that focuses on improving the 928 acre refuge that it sits on. The Clear Creek riparian corridor is currently a primary focus. Examples of activities includes rehabilitating a portion of the creek by removing non-native plants (weeds) and planting native grasses, shrubs, trees, etc, and pulling out heavy debris from the banks such as tires. Future activities may include the Butte College Bioswale Project. When the club isn't trying to improve the refuge, members have fun exploring the far reaches of campus. Business meetings are currently held once a month on Fridays. All other Fridays are club activities.
