Build.com (formally known as Improvementdirect.com and Faucetdirect.com) is a business located near the Chico Airport.
Known as the "largest unknown employer in Butte County," the company is a online retail store of home improvement items. It was founded by two Chico State students, one of whom is still the president of the company. The company was sold to Wolseley, which owns other companies such as Ferguson, and was marked with tremendous growth. In 2009 ImprovementDirect (formally FaucetDirect) decided to once again change their name, this time to Build.com. As of the start of 2010, Build.com is the #2 Home Improvement site on the internet (right behind Homedepot.com ahead of lowes.com) and #80 on the Internet Retailer 2010 top 500 list.
