The future of high speed internet in Champaign-Urbana has reached a defining moment.
Champaign and Urbana are trying to figure out how to operate the UC2B grant-funded fiber infrastructure and expand it to the rest of the community. Regardless of who builds the network, our community will foot the bill.

With a private expansion model, as has been proposed, homeowners, residents, and businesses will pay that bill and continue to pay more long after the cost of the network has been paid. This will lead to higher prices for consumers, less control by the community, and less responsive services-forever.

We can do better than that.​
