Rick Gonzales is a Davis resident who co-founded the Mexican American Concilio of Yolo County with his father to advocate for social justice. In recent years the Gonzales and the Concilio have held an annual dinner every fall to raise scholarship money for high school students attending college. He has been active in many other causes of social justice in Davis and Yolo County.

Gonzales grew up in Woodland and was a school teacher and vice principal in the Sacramento schools before retiring. He is the 2012 recipient of the Covell Trophy for Davis Citizen of the Year.
