Help for the "Math Phobe" or enrichment for the "Math Whizz". I have twenty plus years of helping Davis students excel in math, from 3rd grade through Calculus. Often people think they are “just bad at math” or that math is too hard when they run into difficulties with Algebra, Trigonometry, or Calculus. But these problems actually began way back in elementary school. In order to be successful in higher level math students must have mastered the basics: fractions, decimals, percents, negative numbers, etc. I take the mystery out of math by helping students understand HOW numbers work and WHY they work that way. For four decades I have been teaching the skills students need to excel – working with them to develop their abilities and build their confidence. From establishing a solid foundation during elementary school, going back to the basics, or getting support to understand the more complex theories in higher level math I can help you achieve your goals, whether you’re a math whiz or math phobic.
2014-05-07 12:27:34 I'm a 30something returning student who suffered from math anxiety. After becoming frustrated at not understanding the core concepts of math from high school, I sought out help. Sherrie is an outstanding math tutor who explains the fundamentals of math in a way that not only makes sense, but is also fun! She is very attentive to my specific needs and always knows ahead of each session what we'll be working on. My anxiety has dissipated and my confidence has skyrocketed. Don't let bad instruction in high school put you off getting a degree, Sherrie will help you and you'll enjoy the process. —AndrewLightfoot
