2007-04-10 08:51:02   Dr. Grote is very nice and his hygienists are extremely friendly and skilled (I never leave with polish/paste all over my face like I did at Davis Fam. Dentistry!). I have gone to this office since elementary school, but now my UCD employee insurance doesn't cover him :( Get an appointment here if at all possible! The only problem is he's so popular that appointments are full months in advance.... —SarahThrasher

2007-04-10 08:52:13   ...and another reason I love Dr. Grote's office: he NEVER pushes unnecessary procedures or devices! This honesty seems to be rare in Davis. —SarahThrasher

2008-05-05 09:50:19   Dr. Grote is simply one of the very best. Everyone in his office is friendly, compassionate, and kind. Dr. Grote is also a true gentleman! —ChristineDonnelly

2008-10-22 12:16:45   Super super nice dentist! He and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend Dr. Grote— he's very considerate about the patient's comfort level, very meticulous, and listens/works with what the patients want. Wish there were more dentists and offices like his! —ViVi

2009-06-17 21:36:54   I had a very good experience at Dr. Grote's. The scheduling staff was very flexible and polite when I had to make a last minute change. When I showed up Dr. Grote was up front in a chair talking with his staff which was refreshing as some clinics have a wall of separation there. I was seen immediately and visited by the doctor who was professional and friendly and had one quality I've never seen in a dentist - positivity. Also, no cavities. Recommended. —sjoe

2009-08-31 13:16:07   Dr Grote's prices are high and you rarely see him. His staff does most of the work —Wildwings

2011-08-15 16:29:58   I've had nothing but excellent experiences at Dr. Grote's office. It's by far the best dentist's office I've ever visited. The staff are very friendly and professional, and highly knowledgable. He's also a super nice guy, and clearly puts the quality of the patient experience as top on his list of priorities. —jmofro

2012-01-04 01:11:32   I have to say that this was the best dentist experience I've ever had. I knew it would be so from the moment I sat down in Grote's office and he said, "I just think its best to get to know my patients before sticking a bunch of dentist tools down their throats." The staff takes the time to get to know who you are and talk to you like you're a human being. They're very patient and I never once felt like I was being guilt tripped about how I took care of my teeth.

That said, note that Grote's office is NOT PPO. That means that if you have UC Davis Ship insurance, you will only be covered 60%, not 90% as under PPO-approved dentists. This explains the high prices. —lunelectronique

2016-01-19 17:56:38   I appreciate Ms Thrasher's comments about us being popular, but our wait times for routine appointments are usually less than two weeks, and we can frequently accommodate you within a week depending on how flexible your schedule is. Emergencies are scheduled the same day or shortly thereafter depending on the acuteness of the emergency. We are always happy to schedule a short meet-n-greet if you are trying to decide if our focus on prevention and long term health and stability is for you. I make time for short phone consultations and will provide a second opinion if you have questions about your dental condition and recommendations you have received. As far as GShip insurance through UCD, We do accept GShip patients. A phone call to one of our receptionists can give you the cost difference between our office and the higher volume providers who tend to be on lists for closed plans. —keithgdmd
