Open City is a small business organization founded by Bureau of Urban Living Owner Claire Nelson and Canine to Five owner Liz Blondy. Through monthly meetings and presentations, often in conjunction with Model D, Open City strives to help potential business owners open in Detroit, as well as unite current business owners together to create a strong small business network in the city.

Many small businesses that have opened in recent years attended and utilized open city. Open City alums include: Leopold's books, Good Girls Go to Paris Crepes, the Burton Theater, and City Bird.
