(106) is an art gallery and studio facility located in the Heartside-Downtown neighborhood at 106 S. Division along the Avenue for the Arts. The space is owned by Dwelling Place but is rented and operated by the Calvin College Art Department.

History

The building was once a restaurant supply store called Douglas Brothers. Calvin College's Art Department first used the space to exhibit paintings and installations as part of a Free Radical Gallery event of December, 2003. From there Calvin worked with Dwelling Place to renovate the building, turning the ground floor and the basement into a gallery, artist studios, video projection room, and office space. The second and third floors house artist live/work spaces operated by Dwelling Place.

The gallery did not have regular hours of operation until January, 2007, when a gallery assistant was hired.
