Background
MasterTea opened up in July of 2018, becoming the first of many bubble tea shops located in the Greensboro Area. The owners of the shop are of Vietnamese descent, which is why many of their menu items are Vietnamese dishes.
Bubble Tea is a dessert drink, originating from Taiwan, that consists of tea and tapioca pearls. However, it has transformed into many different forms and combinations of "chunky" drinks.
Atmosphere
MasterTea's decor is influenced by farmhouse decor. While their furniture is wooden and stools are colorful, the walls are decorated with barn-like windows and mirrors. One side of their wall consists of an entire black chalk wall that customers decorate with their own designs and writing. Right outside the shop is also a photo opportunity with their installation of bright angel wing display.
Students and locals treat the shop as a hangout spot to do homework, socialize, and enjoy the broad selection of beverages and food options. They provide free wifi, books, card games, and game boards for use.
Beverages & Entrees
Although bubble tea is a popular menu option, they provide a varying selection of beverages such as:
- Hot Teas (Peppermint tea, Oolong Tea, Jasmine Tea, Green Tea, Ginger Lemon)
- Signature Fruit Teas (Fruit Teas with fruit chunks and jelly)
- Smoothies
- Coffee
- Layered Dessert drinks
Aside from beverages, they also offer snack size entrees such as spring rolls, french fries, and fried tofu.
For bigger portion options, they offer Vietnamese soup dishes (like Pho and Bun Bo Hue) and Vietnamese Sandwiches called Banh Mi). Most of their packaging consists of compostable cardboard, paper wrappings, and reusable plastic containers.

Success Leading to Sister Shop
Their gained popularity over the past two years has influenced them to open another tea shop not too far from their original location. The new shop is named Tik Tok Snow & Tea. This shop's menu is limited to only beverages compared to MasterTea's extended menu.
