SARANAC LAKE — Anna L. Wood, 91, a lifelong resident of the area who had been a patient at the Mercy Health Care Center in Tupper Lake, died Saturday, August 12, 1989, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.

She was born in Brandon on Nov. 8, 1897, the daughter of Antoine and Victoria (LaDue) LaBarge. She was married to Ernest Woods, who died in 1933. She later married Edmond Wood in 1943. He died in 1980.

She worked at Stonywold Sanitarium until she and her first husband purchased and operated the Forester's Inn at Coreys. She later worked at the Bloomingdale Post Office for a number of years.

She was a charter member of Court Rosary of Fatima Catholic Daughters of America in Bloomingdale.  

Survivors include a son, Fred Woods of Tupper Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Beatrice) Windslow of New Britain, Conn., Mrs. Roy (Isabelle) Fuller and Mrs. Clarence (Pauline) Gale, both of Tupper :Lake; one step-daughter, Mrs. Gaylord (Marion) Columbe of Bloomingdale; one sister, Mrs. Melvina DeMars of Tupper Lake; one brother, Alfred LaBarge of Canajoharie; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. A stepson, John, and three grandchildren died earlier.

Calling hours were held Sunday at the Keough and Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled to be held at 11 am. today at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, the Rev. Patrick Mundy officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.

Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Health Care Center of Tupper Lake in care of the funeral home.
