Mrs. Blanche Demerse

LAKE PLACID — Blanche Demorse, 92, a resident of Saranac Lake since 1928 and recently of Uihlein Mercy Center here, died Wednesday evening at the center.

She was born April 28, 1897, in New York City, the daughter of Charles E. and Agnes (Pugh) Wickham.

She worked for Knox Hats as a sales representative in New York City. Her first husband, Helmer Oswald Olson, died Jan. 7, 1929 in New York City.

She married Russell Demerse in 1945 in New York City. He died July 5, 1977.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews including nieces Grace O'Donnell and Jacqueline Guerin of Long Island and Mrs. Margaret Trummer of Saranac Lake and nephew Forrest Lohnes of Conn. and by a cousin, Grace Miller of California.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Keough and Son Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A bible vigil will be held at 7:30 Friday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Church with Father Douglas Comstock officiating.  Donations may be made to the Saranac Lake Adult Center or St. Bernard's School.
