Ernest Lewis VerDow was a World War I veteran.  He developed tuberculosis after being gassed in WWI, and convalesced at Sunmount Veterans Administration Hospital in Tupper Lake.

My grandfather, Ernest Lewis VerDow married Emma Salome Specht on 7/28/1917, shortly after he fought in WWI. He developed TB after being gassed in the war. He convalesced at Sunmount in Tupper Lake, N.Y. My mom, Jane VerDow (Henne) was born in Tupper Lake on 6/1/1926. They eventually moved to Webster, N.Y. where Ernest became a self taught radio/TV operator. Ernest passed away in his 70's. Emma passed away at age 93. Jane is 91 and lives in Airport, N.Y.
