Guy T. Lake, Jr. owned the Lake and Lake Lumber Company with his brother, Fred. After retiring, he operated the Bull Point Motel until 1982.

Guy Lake Jr., 72, dies March 19 in Florida

Guy T. Lake, Jr., 72, a Tupper Lake resident for many years and formerly active in lumbering in this area, died Thursday, March 19 at Oneco, Florida.

Funeral services followed cremation at Oneco. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tupper Lake Baptist Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Niswonger officiating. He was born in Albany on March 26, 1914, son of Guy T. and Gertrude Putnam Lake, attended the Saratoga schools and was graduated in 1938 from the State College of Forestry at Syracuse.

Mr. Lake was a partner with his brother, the late Fred Lake, in ownership and operation of Lake and Lake Lumber Co. Fred Lake died in 1971. Guy Lake operated the Bull Point Motel in the Upper Saranac Lake area for some years before his retirement in 1982.

On Dec. 29, 1936 he was married at Syracuse to Elizabeth Farrington, of that city, who died four years ago. Surviving are four sons: Thomas Lake, of Tupper Lake; Gerald, of Tampa, Fla., Andrew, of Buffalo and Robert, of Oneco, Fla.; two daughters, Virginia Lake of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Rieden of Neenah, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Norma Green of Arlington, Va.; Mrs. Edith Brazos of DeKalb Junction and Ann Perry, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
