Harvey J. Hayward ran Hayward's Laundry at 16 Woodruff Street. The back part of their property along the river is now the Adirondack Bank's drive-in facility on Church Street. He and his wife are buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery. They previously lived at 39 Broadway before his move to the highrise at 3 Riverside Drive. He was a World War I veteran.

Harvey J. Hayward

SARANAC LAKE - Harvey J. Hayward, 89, of 3 Riverside Drive, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, Dec 30, 1999 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

Born Sept. 6, 1910 in Salem, Wisconsin, he was son of John and Ada (Sibley) Hayward.

After serving in the Army in WW I, Mr. Hayward lived in Saranac Lake where he owned and operated Hayward's Laundry for many years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife Edith White, formerly of Saranac Lake, a step-son Clarence J Anderson of Rockwood, Pa., a brother Raymond Hayward of Lake Placid, and friends, Helen and Ernest Clark of Delonega, Ga. He was pre-deceased by his brother George Hayward, a half brother Martin Murk and sister Lucille Chromec.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 pm today at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Frederick Dennis of St. Luke's Church officiating. Internment will be in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.
