FEDA, NORWAY - Hedvig A. Zellweger, 92, formerly of 106 Park Ave., Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1996 in her native village here.

Born Oct. 26, 1903 in Norway, she emigrated to the United States in 1922. She came to the Trudeau Sanatorium for her health in 1924 and married Robert H. Zellweger on Aug. 13, 1927. They lived in Saranac Lake for more than 60 years.

While Hedie, as she was known by all her friends, was convalescing at the Trudeau Sanatorium, she was engaged in making fine jewelry. Many of her friends were recipients of some of her fine art.

In 1987 she moved back to Norway after taking care of her sick husband for many years. In Norway she had nine good years among relatives, and she lived in her own apartment at Fedaheimen home. Mrs. Hedvig enjoyed writing and receiving letters and Christmas cards from all her friends in the United States.

Survivors include her sister, Katrine Svindland; nephews and nieces, including Gunhild Tobiasen; and friends Florence Pitcher of Lake Placid, "Honey" Schmidt and Norma Allen of Saranac Lake, Mrs. Leonore Feinberg of Keene and Hjordis Amundsen of Lake Placid.

Funeral services were held Oct. 8 at the local church in Feda, the same church she was baptized in, with the Rev. Bjorn Kinserdal, minister of the Feda Lutheran Church officiating. She was buried next to her sisters and brothers, parents and grandparents.
