HENRY HUDSON, LONG ILL, DIES

A Pontifical High Mass will tie celebrated in St. Bernard's Church Saranac Lake, Tuesday for Henry Hudson, 69, who died at his home, 37 Church Street, this village at 7 o'clock last evening after a long illness.

Bishop Ralph L. Hayes, of Davenport, Ia., brother-in-law of Mr. Hudson, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

The body will repose at the Keough Chapel of Memories until time of services. Friends may call from 2-4 p. m. and 7-9 p. m.

Mr. Hudson was born at Stamford, Conn., on Nov. 18, 1886, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hudson. While still a boy his family moved to Brooklyn where he attended schools. He was working as a law clerk in a New York City office when his health broke in 1922 bringing him to Saranac Lake at that time. On July 3, 1933 he was married to Mary Camilla Hayes in St. Bernard's Church here by Msgr. Clarence Kitts. The couple operated Franklin Manor at 68 Franklin ave., a cure cottage which had been established by Mrs. Hudson in 1933. Mr. and Mrs. Hudson retired in 1952 and at that time gave the large nursing home to the Carmelite order for a monastery.

Mr Hudson was a veteran of World War I ,and had served overseas with the infantry. He was a post commander of the Matthew [illegible] Post 614 American Legion [most likely Matthews - Killeen Post 614], and had been adjutant of that organization for the past 20 years.
