SARANAC LAKE Howard C. Durette, 63, a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake, died Friday, July 3, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.
Mr. Durette had been employed by the Village of Saranac Lake for over 25 years and had been foreman of the village garage at the time of his retirement.
He was born on December 15, 1916 in Saranac Lake, the son of Forrest and Rose Sidden Durette.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred M. Darrah of Saranac Lake and one son, Howard George Durette, of Columbus, Ohio. Two brothers, George.and Albert of Saranac Lake; one sister, Mrs. Lena Gonyo of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Durette was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army.
Calling hours will be at the Keough and Son Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7, to 9 p.m. There will be a prayer service tonight at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, at 11:15 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church with Sovereign Father John Yankovig officiating.
Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
