Marguerite O'Neil Bigelow came from St. Anisette, Quebec, Canada, to Saranac Lake to work in the TB industry as a housekeeper. She contracted TB here and was treated at the Ray Brook Sanatorium partially as an outpatient in the 1940s. Her brother, John O'Neil, Sr. lived on Franklin Avenue and was the caretaker for the St. Bernard's Cemetery. John O'Neil's son, John Jr. became a NY State Assemblyman from Parishville. John and his wife, Isabelle, had two daughters, Janice and Myrna. Janice became a nun and Myrna became a school teacher.
