Maurice Gosfield was an actor, who is best remembered for his role of Army Private Duane Doberman on the television series, "The Phil Silvers Show" (1955-1959). He was also the voice of Benny the Ball on the Hanna-Barbera television cartoon series "Top Cat."   Born in New York City, he died at Will Rogers Memorial Hospital in Saranac Lake of a sudden heart attack at the age of 51.

DOBERMAN DIES HERE

SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. (AP) Actor Maurice Gosfield, who played the fat, bungling Pvt. Doberman in the "Sgt. Bilko" television series, died today in the Will Rogers Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 51.

When brought here this summer from New York City doctors said, Gosfield had not been expected to live until now. He had diabetes, heart trouble and other complications, they said. He was transferred last month from the Will Rogers Hospital to Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, then returned here.

Among survivors is a sister, Mrs. Mel Sussman of New York City.
