Roland Ross Miner was a World War II veteran and a Korean War veteran.   He was a son of Edward and Freda (Durett) Miner.

SARANAC LAKE - Roland R. Miner, 77, formerly of 3 Riverside Drive, died Monday, Dec. 18, 1995 at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

Born Aug. 21, 1918 in Morrisonville, he was the son of Edward and Freda (Durett) Miner.

Mr. Miner had been a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1965. He moved to Saranac Lake in 1965 and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the town of Franklin from 1965 until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Saranac Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Survivors include one son, Michael Miner of Rochester; one stepson, Bradley Paye of Willsboro; one stepdaughter, Diane Nichols of Sugarbush; three brothers, Gerard and Gordon of Saranac Lake and Claude of Lake Placid; one sister, Patricia Sawyer of Saranac Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A veterans service will be held at 7:50. p.m., followed by a Bible vigil at 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard's Church with the Rev. Christopher Carrara officiating.

Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.

Memorial, donations may be made to the Uihlein Mercy Center in care of the funeral home.
