TO THE EDITOR

Dear Sir:

I am writing in behalf of the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps.

This past year they have made enough money to dress every member of the corps in a very stunning deerskin outfit. The girls' outfits consist of brown jackets with two-inch fringe and fringed skirts. The boys' outfits, the same type of jackets and fringed trousers. With these outfits tan hats of felt are worn.

Surely, the drum corps wishes to thank every person who has contributed to the cause of outfitting them and helping them achieve a very successful year.

Next year they hope to go into competition with other Junior Drum Corps. Francis "Red" Stearns stated at the annual meeting of election of officers that if they intend to do this the buglers will need valve bugles. They can't compete unless they have them!

The drum corps this year is putting a great deal of work into a Christmas dance and they are hoping it will be very successful. The dance is semi-formal and will be held in the Town Hall, Dec. 22, at 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Everyone who attends will certainly help out a great deal in raising the money for these new bugles. The price is $1.50 a couple and 80 cents stag. Entertainment, refreshments, and corsages for the ladies are some of the things offered at this dance.

Even if you like to eat please come and help the drum corps get these new bugles! They really want to make Saranac Lake proud of them.

Frances Duquette, Secretary, Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps.

Drummers of yore, hear ye: Red Stearns has arranged a get-together of members of the old Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, the Boy Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, the old Legion Drum and Bugle Corps at the Vets Club on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. This is not an organization meeting but just a fun night for all drummers, no buglers, a time to whoop it up and drum, drum, drum. The Lake Placid American Legion has kindly given their drums for the evening. Come along and have a good time.
