1955 USGS Saranac quadrantTwin Sisters Islands are two small islands on Oseetah Lake that are connected by a boathouse.  The Islands have also been known as Juanita and Wenonah Islands.  They contain about an acre of land between them.

The islands were part of thousands of acres acquired from the state for back taxes by Monroe Hall.  He passed his lands to his son Benjamin E. Hall at his death in 1914.  The islands were conveyed by Benjamin's daughter Marian W. Hall to Russell Demerse in 1947 and from Blanche Olson Demerse to Russell E. Demerse in 1960

They were conveyed by Blanche Demerse as Executrix of the Last Will and Testament of Russell E. Demerse to Harold A. Durfee and Cecile A. Durfee in 1977.

Two men named GOODRICH and DAVIS were picking spruce gum near Saranac Lake when the big storm came on, and getting out of provisions, were obliged to start for home on the ice through the deep snow. DAVIS gave out when two miles or so from help, and lay down in the snow. GOODRICH kept on until he reached Twin Sister Island, a mile from W. J. EHRICH’S when he also became too exhausted to go any farther, but succeeded in hallooing until he attracted the attention of people at Mr. EHRICH’S, who went to his assistance and also rescued DAVIS, who it was feared, could not recover. Saturday they were able to be taken home.-Plattsburgh Telegram
